Lay Counseling Information

For 20 years as a lay-counselor, Brenda Cox has been helping people apply God's principles in ways that are healing and life-changing.  Though the primary focus of Brenda's work is to facilitate healing from childhood sexual abuse and abandonment, she also provides spiritual guidance and works with those in grief or depression, and with those with boundary and relationship issues.

"God did not intend for us to live on the fringe of freedom.  Christ brought with him to this dusty place empowering principles for the healing of any wound.  If He can raise a four-day-old body from the grave, He can invade any grave we find ourselves in with the power of His resurrection.  The tragedy for the limping Christian is to confine such a powerful One as this to the limitation of our own fears and woundedness.  For when we do, Christ walks His life in us as a crippled Savior, and we offer to the world, through the witness of ouf lives, a lame deliverer.  But if we lay hold of the heritage of life and power God has bequeathed us through His Son, then we offer the world the overcoming Savior and conquering King God always said we had."

USING THE PRINCIPLES OF GOD FOR HEALING FROM LIFE'S DEEPEST HURTS.

Lay Counseling

Ministering God's Word and Ways to the deep issues of life

Using not only spiritual and Scriptural principles, but the example of Christ as presented in Scripture, life approaches are developed that can free people from the debilitating effects of frozen childhood pain and can produce wholeness despite the shadows of loss, abandonment, and abuse.

The role of lay counseling is simply to be an instrument through which individuals can better recognize Truth and understand how to apply it in practical ways in their lives.

As truth is applied to the underlying gouges that feed them, depression, fears and phobias, anxieties and anger can be dismantled, and the sabotaged believer can know a freedom the heart has yearned for but which always before has lodged beyond the reach of the soul.

The embrace of truth by the heart sets our imprisoned places free.

Teleios Healing Program

The Greek word “teleios” has to do with
becoming whole in Christ.

The Teleios Healing Ministry, developed by Brenda Cox, is an intensive, focused effort to help people move into breakthrough healing from profound childhood issues.  This aspect of the lay counseling ministry is neither crisis management (though there are elements of it) nor a temporary patch.  It is for those who are at last ready to commit to the hard work of inner healing and to persevere until breakthrough occurs.   Such healing breaks the grip which unfinished pain has held on the soul through toxic perspectives and approaches to life.  From this, a reorientation of one’s life is possible, where issues become more manageable and new systems can be implemented.

The Teleios program ministers to survivors of childhood sexual abuse (as well as other types of abuse), abandonment and occult abuse.  It involves a signed covenant commitment between the client and counselor.
